Varicose and

Thread Veins

An interventional radiologist performs an ultrasound examination of a patient's varicose veins

Varicose veins are a common problem, affecting 1 in 3 people in the course of their lifetime. They vary from unsightly thread veins (also known as spider veins), which are primarily a cosmetic issue, to bulging and painful varicose veins, which become more swollen over time.

Over the years interventional radiology has replaced surgery as the go-to solution for varicose veins. Image guided, minimally invasive procedures, such as Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA) and foam sclerotherapy for varicose veins, provide a ‘walk in, walk out’ solution that can be performed under local anaesthetic.

Dr Mark Regi has over a decade of experience in treating varicose veins, having performed over 2,000 laser treatments and 2,000 foam sclerotherapy treatments. These appointments usually take place at Veincentre clinics, which Dr Mark Regi runs regularly in:

Dr Mark Regi is also part of a group of specialist doctors setting up a UK Veincentre in Dubai, so it will soon be possible to access a varicose vein specialist in Dubai and get the same high standard of treatment both in the UK and UAE. Details to be announced in 2023/2024.
